New Thought Millennials are overwhelmingly independent practitioners. One of the reasons for this is a shared understanding that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is the highest spiritual teaching imparted to humanity through humanity.
This truth is not commonly taught in most old New Thought communities which means they are less attractive to Millennials.
New Thought Millennials embrace spiritual practices such as meditation, conscious communication and spiritual mind treatment (cognitive psychology) etc... as the means to personal evolution and co-creation of Civil Societies which are robust vehicles for the creation of a compassionate culture throughout the world.
Spiritual practice is a means by which we individually evolve. It should be noted that while New Thought spiritual practices are ancient, they have been validated by medical science. Successful scientists, artists, musicians, athletes and astronauts use many of these tools to achieve higher levels of creativity. This is because happy successful people share in common the understanding that as we cultivate higher consciousness, focus attention upon the expansion of our awareness and compassion, and develop personal wisdom, we are able to manifest our dreams. Wisdom is the combination of knowledge with compassion. While those who operate from the "Reptilian Brain" often have erroneous concepts leading to beliefs that domination is the key to success, higher thinkers are aware that the greatest success comes through partnership and co-creation.
Through intention to live lives of dynamic compassionate action to this and Spiritual Practices to support that intention, we are able to transform our thinking and consequently our hearts which opens the flow of divine dynamics into our lives through higher thinking. The result is joyful success.
The Word
A person knowing the power of the word, becomes very careful of his conversation.
He has only to watch the reaction of his words to know that they do "not return void."
Through his spoken word, man is continually making laws for himself.
~ Florence Scovel Shinn (The Game of Life)
Thus the invisible forces are ever working for man
who is always "pulling the strings" himself,
though he does not know it.
Owing to the vibratory power of words, whatever man voices, he begins to attract.
~ Florence Scovel Shinn (The Game of Life)
In DivineUnity, we begin with "The Word". Words are very powerful. A person on the spiritual path is aware of this keenly. Words are like seeds that are planted and grow into bushes, trees, or weeds and thorns. Beautiful seeds that are positive and loving will yield loving and positive results but seeds that are bitter will yield bitter results.
Right Speech is an important tool in personal development.
Just as the way we think affects the way we speak, the way we speak affects the way we think. In fact much has been written in the field of cognitive psychology about "self talk" and how this affects our self esteem and our interactions with others. Being mindful of our speech can have a wonderful effect on all our relationships and most importantly upon ourselves.
Your Word is Your Wand
"Man's word is his wand filled with magic and power!
So man has power to change an unhappy condition by waving over it the wand of his word."
~ Florence Scovel Shinn
In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
"I AM BETTER AND BETTER WITH EVERY THOUGHT I THINK, EVERY WORD I SPEAK, EVERYTHING I DO. EVERYDAY IN EVERYWAY"
There is a metaphysical principle that your word is your wand; your speech has a powerful effect upon your life in fact creating your reality/life. Thus it is wise to only affirm that which is good, speak well of your future and positively about what you wish to happen in your life and the world. It is also wise for us to speak well of others and use our words to build people up. We should not tear them down.
We must remind ourselves that our words are prophecies that we fulfill. A great teacher once said: "It is done unto you as you believe." Thus by using affirmations to declare a new and better path, by putting aside our doubts and fears and acting as if our desired goal were already a reality, we bring that reality into existence.
Why do the Bahai have an admonition against gossip? What negative effects does gossip bring into the lives of the abuser (gossiper) and the target of the abuse (the person or people they are gossiping about)?
Speaking Your Word
There is a place where thou canst touch the eyes
Of blinded men to instant, perfect sight;
There is a place where thou canst say, “Arise”
To dying captives, bound in chains of night;
There is a place where thou canst reach the store
Of hoarded gold and free it for the Lord;
There is a place–upon some distant shore–
Where thou canst send the worker and the Word.
Where is that secret place–dost thou ask, “Where?”
O soul, it is the secret place of prayer!
~ Alfred Lord Tennyson
"I awaken into joy, energized with the divine. I am divinely guided in all that I do, to the perfect decisions and enjoy the best outcomes in all that I do"

In fact much has been written in the field of cognitive psychology about "self talk" and how this affects our self esteem and our interactions with others. Being mindful of our speech can have a wonderful effect on all our relationships and most importantly upon ourselves. Let no idle or cruel words form from your lips and you will see an amazing transformation of your life.
Changing our speech patterns can be hard when we have developed bad habits of speech.
Use the power of your speech to reprogram your mind and through this to transform your life.
New Thought Spiritual Practices support us to transform our thinking and thereby transform our lives.
New Thought is neither Abrahamic, nor Vedic. New Thought is unique in that a person may come from any religious background and does not need to belong to any of the four Abrahamic religions or any of the Hindu (Vedic) religions. There are New Thought Taoists and New Thought Buddhists. What New Thought adherents have in common is a belief in Universal Spiritual Principles.
There are New Thought Buddhists, New Thought Taoists and New Thought Pagans who have would never call themselves Christian, nor claim any Abrahamic influence whatsoever. They accept that New Thought Abrahamics (Jews, Christians, Mohammedans, Mormons), and New Thought Vedics share the same Universal Principles of New Thought but would never characterize themselves as Abrahamic.
It is understood that New Thought is a unique and powerful spiritual path which can characterized as a religion having its own spiritual practices and beliefs. Some in New Thought prefer to claim they have no beliefs and choose to express their beliefs as "knowing."
It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. The adherents of each spiritual path are collectively responsible to the rest of humanity and all life to insure that the expression of their path is not abusive or violent nor violates the rights of other beings.
There are even New Thought Fundamentalists who believe that "nothing is real and everything is in your mind." These folks share many thought patterns and behaviors with other Fundamentalists around the globe. Such extreme beliefs are held by a fraction of New Thought adherents.
As one learns in the beliefs section, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good. It is not

This basic premise of New Thought, that the Divine is Good and Omnipresent is based upon universal spiritual principles as demonstrated and taught by historical figures such as Buddha, Danika, Lao Tzu, and Jesus the Christ.
As mentioned above, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good.
