New Thought Practices

New Thought Millennials are overwhelmingly independent practitioners. One of the reasons for this is a shared understanding that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is the highest spiritual teaching imparted to humanity through humanity.

This truth is not commonly taught in most old New Thought communities which means they are less attractive to Millennials.

New Thought Millennials embrace spiritual practices such as meditation, conscious communication and spiritual mind treatment (cognitive psychology) etc... as the means to personal evolution and co-creation of Civil Societies which are robust vehicles for the creation of a compassionate culture throughout the world.

Explore the New Thought Practice of Spiritual Mind Treatment

Spiritual practice is a means by which we individually evolve. It should be noted that while New Thought spiritual practices are ancient, they have been validated by medical science. Successful scientists, artists, musicians, athletes and astronauts use many of these tools to achieve higher levels of creativity. This is because happy successful people share in common the understanding that as we cultivate higher consciousness, focus attention upon the expansion of our awareness and compassion, and develop personal wisdom, we are able to manifest our dreams. Wisdom is the combination of knowledge with compassion. While those who operate from the "Reptilian Brain" often have erroneous concepts leading to beliefs that domination is the key to success, higher thinkers are aware that the greatest success comes through partnership and co-creation.

Through intention to live lives of dynamic compassionate action to this and Spiritual Practices to support that intention, we are able to transform our thinking and consequently our hearts which opens the flow of divine dynamics into our lives through higher thinking.  The result is joyful success.

Spiritual Mind Treatment is a New Thought Practice

Spiritual Mind Treatment is a New Thought Spiritual Practice -

Prayer is a potent tool to experience our unity with the Divine.  Done properly prayer creates changes within ourselves which lead to changes in our lives. .

What is Prayer? Why Pray? Traditionally, prayer was viewed as a way of invoking the attention of some distant diety to gain a benefit or avoid a loss. The effectiveness of prayer was thought to depend on the worthiness of the one praying, the ernestness of the petition, and some bargained promise of behavioral change.

Prayer is a cornerstone discipline for New Thought adherents. Our approach is fundamentally different than traditional prayer. Rather than hoping to catch the attention of a God on a throne in the sky, in order to persuade it to change its thinking about us, we believe the purpose of prayer is to change ourselves.  We focus on changing our own thinking and through this change generating transformation in our lives to overcome any challenges we face.

The universe is permeated by what physicists call the Universal Field.  Mental Scientists use the term Quantum Field, or sometimes  Creative Intelligence.  Religious Scientists and others use the term That That Is.  New Thought Buddhists and DivineUnity call this energy the Divine, or Divine Mind.  Deists call it variously God, Goddess, or other theistic terms.  Metaphysicians often call it Life Energy.  The name we give this energy does not change the energy, it simply changes the perspective of the namer. One's concept of this energy, or higher power whether limited or unlimited is simply a reflection of ones' own conception.

Through understanding that one is connected to all life, we observe that any person can create greater health, prosperity or love in mind, body and thereby life experience.

Change Your Thinking and thereby Change your life.

The practice and use of Creative Intelligence is what we call Affirmative Prayer or Spiritual Mind Treatment. The essence of this derives from Ancient Wisdom Teachings found within spiritual paths around the globe. Some New Thought adherents are fond of the Abrahamic saying: "It is done unto you as you believe." As long as one is aware of the truth that we are all in this life together, and does not fall into the delusion of believing in solitary consciousness. This aphorism is quite helpful . When a free person realizes that his or her thoughts are causative, either as a motive force or conscious causation, then one awakens to the understanding that a change within ones' thoughts leads to a change within ones' conditions.

The practice and discipline of affirmative prayer supports us to stay in alignment with what we wish to experience. The manifestation of that which we desire already exists in the present moment and is simply awaiting our moving into conscious alignment with it.

New Thought adherents use Spiritual Mind Treatment / Affirmative Prayer regularly and some begin to practice "speaking the word" which is an ongoing practice of conscious communication to oneself and others. In some New Thought "transdenominations" people take courses to become a "licensed practitioner." .In others trandenominations people become "certified practiioners."

Some practitioners charge for their services, but generally this is a "love offering," which means what you give is voluntary. It is important to be conscious about your interactions with anyone who is supporting yoiur spiritual development or healing. There are those who are simply collecting credentials and they will recite extensive resumes regarding these credentials. The price can go up accordingly. Be aware, consciousness and caring to yourself and others.

After recipes and directions, the third thing that humans inscribed were prayers. As described above, New Thought adherents who live their practice will often evolve to a continuous ongoing affirmation of good. Most New Thought leaders will encourage people to pray often and always... for the health and well being of the planet, for peace and harmony, for the expansion of love in the hearts of all!. We are all in this together! Co-creating and co-operating.

New Thought Prayer recognizes the allness, oneness and wholeness of life, humanity, and the Divine. We treat the mind so that we experience a transformation in our root beliefs and through our newborn faith actualize the answer to our intention. We feel this is a better to approach manifestation than desperate pleas or anguished lamentation.

There are five steps in Affirmative Prayer / Spiritual Mind Treatment

We do not say it is the ONLY way to pray, but we are quite confident that once you learn how to do it and experience the results, you will affirm with us that this is inded the best way to pray.   Some even liken the steps of Affirmative Prayer to a scientific formula. It is said that the reason for this is when a person begins to practice this systematically applying the Scientific Method, one can measure the results. We encourage you to try this.

When John Bascom created Science of Mind in the 19th Century, he wrote a great deal about the importance of ethics and right action. Later when the Holmes' brothers began to explore their version of Science of Mind, which they called Religious Science, they focused on the "motor of New Thought" which is the "how" to manifest.  How to manifest what one desires is essential to creation.

The reason that some folks have at times called Science of Mind, "white witchcraft" is because they were only acquainted with Religious Science. When one is aware of the complete path of Science of Mind and understands that Religious Science is only a branch of this path, then a person can come to deeper wisdom that while the "how" is essential to creation, the why is essential to intention.

"The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams ..."   This is a pessimistic truism, yet truisms are called that because they contain truth.  While we must be cautious not to accept such tautologies as the complete truth, we must also be aware that if there  were no need for compassion in the world, such truisms would not exist.

There are differences between the variations of New Thought but a primary principle shared by all true adherents in New Thought is the principle of CO-CREATION. Co-creation or partnership with Divine is a stark contrast to the BDSM depictions of God as an angry masculine energy which demands  submission.

Co-creation is why New Thought has been called the religion for the "healthy minded."  While old New Thought teachers are often unaware of the Partnership paradigm, this ignorance will fade away in the light.  Riane Eisler's teachings are becoming increasingly referenced by advanced New Thought leaders.  This accompanied by the UDHR is opening the door to deeper wisdom as a firm foundation for higher thought.

Of course, the fact that advanced New Thought leaders are aware of and thus enfold the Partnership Paradigm in their talks and teachings, does not mean that adherents of New Thought condemn practitioners of BDSM.  Because New Thought Millennials are aware that the UDHR is the highest spiritual teaching, they are not interested in judging sexual practices between consenting adults.   Consenting adults who enjoy BDSM are free to do so, yet it should be understood that while some practices which dominate the bedrooms of Abrahamics and others are not conducive to the creation of the healthy society.

Is there a "who" that New Thought adherents direct prayers to? Ernest Holmes, one of the brothers who created the Religious Science version of Science of MInd, caught a lot of flak for his description of the Divine as "That That is." In New Thought we believe there is a universal energy that flows through all  things at all times, by extension this means that universal energy flows through all life and thus through each of us.

People  around the world share this concept, Taoists, Buddhists, Vedics and Abrahamics share a common notion that "the Kingdom is within."  Scientists explore this concept through understandings of the web of life, our common genetic heritage and the fact that humans are energy beings through the generation of electric fields.

Whether we use the term: Divine Mind, Creative Intelligence, Brahma, Christ, Buddha, or any other word that humanity variously uses to describe the Divine, the word we use simply changes ourselves.  The Divine Presence, or Universal Field is always flowing through us, within us and around us. New Thought adherents say, "There is no spot where the Divine is not." The power and vitality of prayer lies in the awareness of our union with this power and presence.  Our approach to Spirit is direct, through our own consciousness.  For New Thought adherents, whether athiest Mental Scientists, Buddhist New Thought adherents or Divine Scientists, "The Kingdom is within" means that each person has equal access to the Universal Field and that through Spiritual Practices a person empowers oneself to form this energy through intention and consequent action.

Since the Divine flows through us and we are the vessels by which Divine Energy manifests, it thus follows that the primary channel is through us. The saying: "Be the change you wish to see in the world" is powerful New Thought paradigm. New Thought adherents seek to become the love they wish to see in the world.  New Thought adherents who wish to manifest prosperity do not look for handouts complaining about their difficult situations, rather they become living conduits of prosperity and by being the abundance they wish to see and supporting the sources that support them through ongoing, regular contributions, they change their relationship to the energy of abundance and manifest it within their lives.

There is a story about a junior minister who was given an opportunity to lead a community in Canada. He was not from Canada, but had studied his form of New Thought quite intensely. The center he was given a chance to lead had some challenges. He set about to overcome them, but when he asked for help, instead of affirming Prosperity and thereby living his truth, he would simply recite a littany of blame about how the previous leaderhsip had made loads of mistakes, how they were going through "bankruptcy" etc...

We cannot give what we do not have. This includes faith. This junior minister demonstrated absolutely no faith in what he had learned while institutionalized at his "Transdenomination's" Divinity School.

At the onset of 2015, a review of New Thought communities revealed a massive shrinkage of New Thought communities throughout the United States of between 17 to 21 percent since 2011.  In 2016, a review was conducted going back to the beginning of the New Millennium and it was discovered that from 2000 to 2016, 49% of New Thought communities closed.

One of the issues that is prompting this shrinkage is that some New Thought leaders do not truly believe what they are teaching. This is evidenced by a clear lack of practicing what they are teach.  Another issue is the failure of New Thought leaders to firmly embrace the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The failure of Ernest Holmes and other American New Thought Leaders to embrace the UDHR can be understood in the light of the fact in 1948 the United States had Jim Crow laws that codified racism.  While racism is a universal human trait spawning groups that focus on racial identity, laws which codify privilege of any racial group are obviously destructive to the fabric of civil society.

One of the primary principles of New Thought is Spiritual Evolution.  One outpicturing of this principle is the replacement of nonsense teachings with a firm foundation of truth.  Racism is a nonsense teaching which interferes with the creation of a more compassionate world.

There is also a great deal of nonsense regarding cultural relativity.  The world is comprised of a spectrum of cultures.   Countries in the Americas have vibrant cultures with a variety of contributors from around the world.  These cultures were built through the destruction of the indigenous peoples.   Countries outside of the Americas are not normally multicultural.  One can look at Africa, Asia and Europe and see that while in some cases there are diverse groups within various countries, most nations have common languages.  The great nations of the world have firm foundations for Civil Societies.  Advanced nations with provinces having significant populations of particular ethnic groups are conscious of the importance of human rights for those groups.  Decadent nations demonstrate disdain and encourage destruction of unique populations.  Such behavior is contrary to the principles and articles of the UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights) which in 1976, after the Covenants had been ratified by a sufficient number of individual nations, took on the force of international law.

There are increasing challenges around the world due to decadent nations which have not advanced  to the point of understanding that truth neither peace, nor prosperity can be gained or retained through totalitarianism.   Constitutions that deny Freedom of Thought, Freedom of Opinion and any of the essential freedoms articulated within the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are clear demonstrations of decadence.  Denial of the destructive patterns that stem from decadent thought forms simply support their perpetuation.

In any spiritual path, it is important that understanding be demonstrated at all times. If one does not believe what one teaches, then it is not likely that others will believe what is being taught.  If a spiritual leader of a community is deeply focused upon the problems he or she encounters rather than solutions, then those challenges are not likely to be easily resolved.

Looking for blame, will not generate solutions. The answers are always within. Look within and pray. Long prayers, short prayers, out loud, alone, and with others. Although Affirmative Prayer / Spiritual Mind Treatment, follows a specific formula, one can prayer in other ways as well. Simply know the truth that you are connected to all life though the undergirding energetic network that some call Divine Mind.  Your thoughts are articulated through words and actions.  Observe your thoughts, learn to focus on solutions.  Leave your anger behind and put your love into action. One of the great secrets to sound and magnificent manifestation it intention.

What do you want?  Do you want a world which uses green renewable energy?  Or do you want a world fueled by oil?  Do you want electricity generated by Nuclear power or would you prefer that your power comes from solar cells, wind and tidal energy?  Do you want a world in which our descendants have equal opportunity, or a world which is comprised of a diverse group of elites which delight in consolidating control and perpetuating personal power through the patterns which result from the Dominator Paradigm?

We encourage you to register for New Thought Classes with a variety of New Thought teachers, and thereby discover the power that is always there, always within. We know that through experimentation, you will prove the truth for yourself.

New Thought Spiritual Practices support us to transform our thinking and thereby transform our lives.

New Thought is neither Abrahamic, nor Vedic. New Thought is unique in that a person may come from any religious background and does not need to belong to any of the four Abrahamic religions or any of the Hindu (Vedic) religions. There are New Thought Taoists and New Thought Buddhists. What New Thought adherents have in common is a belief in Universal Spiritual Principles.

There are New Thought Buddhists, New Thought Taoists and New Thought Pagans who have would never call themselves Christian, nor claim any Abrahamic influence whatsoever. They accept that New Thought Abrahamics (Jews, Christians, Mohammedans, Mormons), and New Thought Vedics share the same Universal Principles of New Thought but would never characterize themselves as Abrahamic.

It is understood that New Thought is a unique and powerful spiritual path which can characterized as a religion having its own spiritual practices and beliefs. Some in New Thought prefer to claim they have no beliefs and choose to express their beliefs as "knowing."

It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. The adherents of each spiritual path are collectively responsible to the rest of humanity and all life to insure that the expression of their path is not abusive or violent nor violates the rights of other beings.

There are even New Thought Fundamentalists who believe that "nothing is real and everything is in your mind." These folks share many thought patterns and behaviors with other Fundamentalists around the globe. Such extreme beliefs are held by a fraction of New Thought adherents.

As one learns in the beliefs section, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good. It is not

New Thought Day was declared by James Edgerton on August 23rd, 1915
During research while expanding the free New Thought Library, one of the ministers came across an interesting quote from early New Thought Alliance President James A. Edgerton: "'The truth, once announced, has the power not only to renew but to extend itself. New Thought is universal in its ideals and therefore should be universal in its appeal. Under the guidance of the spirit, it should grow in good works until it embraces many lands and eventually the whole world.' ~ New Thought Day, August 23rd , 1915."
