New Thought Practices

New Thought Millennials are overwhelmingly independent practitioners. One of the reasons for this is a shared understanding that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is the highest spiritual teaching imparted to humanity through humanity.

This truth is not commonly taught in most old New Thought communities which means they are less attractive to Millennials.

New Thought Millennials embrace spiritual practices such as meditation, conscious communication and spiritual mind treatment (cognitive psychology) etc... as the means to personal evolution and co-creation of Civil Societies which are robust vehicles for the creation of a compassionate culture throughout the world.

Explore the New Thought Practice of Journaling

Spiritual practice is a means by which we individually evolve. It should be noted that while New Thought spiritual practices are ancient, they have been validated by medical science. Successful scientists, artists, musicians, athletes and astronauts use many of these tools to achieve higher levels of creativity. This is because happy successful people share in common the understanding that as we cultivate higher consciousness, focus attention upon the expansion of our awareness and compassion, and develop personal wisdom, we are able to manifest our dreams. Wisdom is the combination of knowledge with compassion. While those who operate from the "Reptilian Brain" often have erroneous concepts leading to beliefs that domination is the key to success, higher thinkers are aware that the greatest success comes through partnership and co-creation.

Through intention to live lives of dynamic compassionate action to this and Spiritual Practices to support that intention, we are able to transform our thinking and consequently our hearts which opens the flow of divine dynamics into our lives through higher thinking.  The result is joyful success.

Journaling - writing can change your life

...the details of our days do make a difference in our lives...no experience is ever just for drill...everything can be a springboard for inspiration if we are willing to be open to the goodness of life.
~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

Each thought that is welcomed and recorded is a nest egg, by the side of which more will be laid.
~ Henry David Thoreau

Journaling is a way of tracking the development of our consciousness. This enables us to not only record our journey but also to write down our Goals and our Plans on how to reach those goals. The best thing to focus on is yourself. Write down what you want to change about yourself affirmatively in the present tense. For example: " I am developing deeper wisdom, deeper compassion, the ability to make important decisions easily. These type of things will result in changes in yourself which will lead to major changes in your life.

The journal is a very powerful tool which assists us in recording our perceptions. The Journal, as the name implies, leads us on journey which helps us to reveal our true selves. We are not simply recording our experiences as in a diary. With a Journal, we are going beyond simply recording what "happens" in our lives to a process of transformation into our highest concept of ourselves. Your journal helps you to discover your higher purpose and from the raw stuff of being to create the person you truly wish to be. By combining the tool of journaling with the other tools, we will reveal the essence of our being is love, life and laughter.

As it written, so let it be...

Journaling ~ As it is written so let it be

Sometime in your life you will go on a journey.
It will be the longest journey you have ever taken.
It is the journey to find yourself.

~ Katherine Sharp

When you write down your ideas you automatically focus your full attention on them. Few if any of us can write one thought and think another at the same time. Thus a pencil and paper make excellent concentration tools.
~
Michael Leboeuf

We take a flexible approach to our journals which means we include pictures that we find, or make, sketches, articles from magazines and books, quotes from people in our lives or historical figures. When we go to our Spiritual Centers or as we read books we add the various bits of wonderful knowledge that assists us in our Spiritual Evolution.

Your journal is a special thing for you, so your choice is important in the sense that it is your journal and your personal expression. In our class on Journaling the Journey, writers will come to the web site and go to the daily contemplation page and write about that days contemplation and what that idea brings up in them. The depth of your writing is not as important as the process and putting pen to paper, or fingers to the keyboard.

Revealing The Essence

Journaling ~ Revealing The Essence

The events in our lives happen in a sequence in time,
but in their significance to ourselves they find their own order.

~ Eudora Welty

"'Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus.
~
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Deeper Realizations

Journaling ~ Deeper Realizations through Journaling

Most true happiness comes from one's inner life,
from the disposition of the mind and soul.
Admittedly, a good inner life is difficult to achieve,
especially in these trying times.
It takes reflection and contemplation and self-discipline.

~ W.L. Shirer

In contrast with the type of journaling that dwells on pain and frustration. Spiritual journaling is about how that pain brings us to deeper spiritual realizations which allows us to be free from suffering. The painful and challenging moments in our lives, the joyful experiences can give us a great insight into how we are living our lives and how we can make more empowering choices in the future. Our past choices brought us to where we are today, but we only have the now. Action in the present is the only way we can make a better future. How we write about the present and vision the future is essential to creating the future that we wish to have.

"Cultivate an attitude of gratitude and others will always give you latitude." ~ Dana Allen
“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.” ~ Buddha
"He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has." ~ Epictetus
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." ~ The Bible Phil 4:6 NKJV
"If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice." ~ Meister Eckhart
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." ~ John F. Kennedy
“To educate yourself for the feeling of gratitude means to take nothing for granted, but to always seek out and value the kind that will stand behind the action. Nothing that is done for you is a matter of course. Everything originates in a will for the good, which is directed at you. Train yourself never to put off the word or action for the expression of gratitude.” ~ Albert Schweitzer
“For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, for love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?" ~ William A. Ward
"Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation." ~ Brian Tracy

New Thought Spiritual Practices support us to transform our thinking and thereby transform our lives.

New Thought is neither Abrahamic, nor Vedic. New Thought is unique in that a person may come from any religious background and does not need to belong to any of the four Abrahamic religions or any of the Hindu (Vedic) religions. There are New Thought Taoists and New Thought Buddhists. What New Thought adherents have in common is a belief in Universal Spiritual Principles.

There are New Thought Buddhists, New Thought Taoists and New Thought Pagans who have would never call themselves Christian, nor claim any Abrahamic influence whatsoever. They accept that New Thought Abrahamics (Jews, Christians, Mohammedans, Mormons), and New Thought Vedics share the same Universal Principles of New Thought but would never characterize themselves as Abrahamic.

It is understood that New Thought is a unique and powerful spiritual path which can characterized as a religion having its own spiritual practices and beliefs. Some in New Thought prefer to claim they have no beliefs and choose to express their beliefs as "knowing."

It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. The adherents of each spiritual path are collectively responsible to the rest of humanity and all life to insure that the expression of their path is not abusive or violent nor violates the rights of other beings.

There are even New Thought Fundamentalists who believe that "nothing is real and everything is in your mind." These folks share many thought patterns and behaviors with other Fundamentalists around the globe. Such extreme beliefs are held by a fraction of New Thought adherents.

As one learns in the beliefs section, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good. It is not

This basic premise of New Thought, that the Divine is Good and Omnipresent is based upon universal spiritual principles as demonstrated and taught by historical figures such as Buddha, Danika, Lao Tzu, and Jesus the Christ.

As mentioned above, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good.

New Thought Day was declared by James Edgerton on August 23rd, 1915
During research while expanding the free New Thought Library, one of the ministers came across an interesting quote from early New Thought Alliance President James A. Edgerton: "'The truth, once announced, has the power not only to renew but to extend itself. New Thought is universal in its ideals and therefore should be universal in its appeal. Under the guidance of the spirit, it should grow in good works until it embraces many lands and eventually the whole world.' ~ New Thought Day, August 23rd , 1915."
