These days statistics about New Thought tell a story of growth for the movement, but shrinkage of attendance at New Thought Centers.
This seems to be at odds with the fact that today's New Thought is smarter and more compassionate than the old New Thought of the 20th Century. But in fact, there is no conflict with these facts. They go together.
New Thought seekers today are not inspired by the old New Thought forms. The Fillmore's seemed to have a prescient understanding when they put their works in the public domain, yet their teachings do not have a broad base relying almost exclusively on Abrahamic Thought
The Holmes' brothers created some wonderful works for their time, but there are some problems that crop up when someone begins to view Ernest's work with a critical eye.
This does not mean that Ernest didn't create some good work which is useful for today's classes. But science has moved forward and a number of concepts in old New Thought are no longer valid.
Sadly some New Thought Spiritual Leaders lack creativity and instead of developing an understanding of principles and becoming a master, such sad souls simply memorize the works of their dead masters which is why they join them in their demise.
New Thought is not about old New Thought. New Thought is a dynamic path that embraces spiritual evolution. Seekers desiring the knowledge of the dead simply need to dig in the graves of those who are no longer with us. Seekers desiring the truth of life awaken to life today. These are not the people who say that we should dwell within the past, they are the souls who demand that we live today and create a better tommorrow.
There are some wonderful New Thought Forms today which absorb what is still valid from old New Thought and present stronger paths that are useful for today's seekers.
When you are thinking about how some of "old New Thought" makes sense but there is also a lot of crap that is useless. Don't think you are alone. You are on the vanguard of Truth Teachings.
Don't accept the nonsense that old New Thought folks flog, demand answers that conform to the science of today and the compassion necessary for our children to see a tommorrow!

There are many wonderful New Thought organizations with diverse root texts and a variety of approaches to those texts and distinct methods of teaching.
Explore different New Thought beliefs and choose the approach that best suits you. While we are aware that the majority of people who choose the New Thought Path do not find a New Thought Community that suits their sensibilities, we encourage you to visit the different centers.

The basic premise of New Thought is that which is Divine is Good and Omnipresent. New Thought is based on Universal Spiritual Principles as demonstrated and taught by historical figures such as Buddha, Danika, Lao Tzu, and Jesus the Christ. It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. The adherents of each spiritual path are collectively responsible to the rest of humanity and all life to insure that the expression of their path is not abusive or violent nor violates the rights of other beings.
As mentioned above, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good.
New Thought supports us on our individual journey of personal spiritual evolution.
