New Thought Practices

New Thought Millennials are overwhelmingly independent practitioners. One of the reasons for this is a shared understanding that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is the highest spiritual teaching imparted to humanity through humanity.

This truth is not commonly taught in most old New Thought communities which means they are less attractive to Millennials.

New Thought Millennials embrace spiritual practices such as meditation, conscious communication and spiritual mind treatment (cognitive psychology) etc... as the means to personal evolution and co-creation of Civil Societies which are robust vehicles for the creation of a compassionate culture throughout the world.

Explore the New Thought Practice of Goal Setting and Planning

Spiritual practice is a means by which we individually evolve. It should be noted that while New Thought spiritual practices are ancient, they have been validated by medical science. Successful scientists, artists, musicians, athletes and astronauts use many of these tools to achieve higher levels of creativity. This is because happy successful people share in common the understanding that as we cultivate higher consciousness, focus attention upon the expansion of our awareness and compassion, and develop personal wisdom, we are able to manifest our dreams. Wisdom is the combination of knowledge with compassion. While those who operate from the "Reptilian Brain" often have erroneous concepts leading to beliefs that domination is the key to success, higher thinkers are aware that the greatest success comes through partnership and co-creation.

Through intention to live lives of dynamic compassionate action to this and Spiritual Practices to support that intention, we are able to transform our thinking and consequently our hearts which opens the flow of divine dynamics into our lives through higher thinking.  The result is joyful success.

Goal Setting and Planning is a New Thought Practice

Goal Setting and Planning are essential to success

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
~ Larry Elder

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
~ C.S. Lewis

Goal Setting & Planning empowers us to Live Our Lives in the Way We Wish

By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, we can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals. We can observe progress in what might previously have seemed an endless toil. By setting goals then using plans to reach those goals, we will raise our self-confidence. The process of achieving goals and seeing our achievements gives us confidence that we will be able to achieve higher and more difficult goals. Thus it follows that we should begin with goals that are "realistic" in the sense that if we create unachievable goals we could become discouraged.

Plans are essential to our goals. Think of it like a journey. You make the goal to go to a distant city, then you make plans, a map of how to get to your destination. Plans for your goals are the same. You set a goal then you make a plan or an outline of how to reach that goal.

Setting Goals

Goals & Plans ~ Setting Goals is a major key to success

“Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it's who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.”
~Anthony Robbins

“Goals are simply tools to focus your energy in positive directions, these can be changed as your priorities change, new one added, and others dropped.”.

Goal setting is a process of personal planning. By setting goals on a routine basis we decide what we want to achieve, and then move step-by-step using our plans to achieve our goals. The process of setting goals and targets allows us to choose where we want to go in life. By knowing precisely what we want to achieve, we know what we have to concentrate on to do it. We also know what is merely a distraction

By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, we can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals. We can observe progress in what might previously have seemed and endless toil. By setting goals, we will also raise our self-confidence, as we recognize our ability and competence in achieving the goals that we have set. The process of achieving goals and seeing our achievements gives us confidence that we will be able to achieve higher and more difficult goals.

Making Plans

Goal & Plans ~ Making Plans For Success

Goals provide the energy source that powers our lives. One of the best ways we can get the most from the energy we have is to focus it. That is what goals can do for us; concentrate our energy.”
~ Denis Waitley

First, we decide what we want to do with our lives and what large-scale goals we want to achieve. Then we break these down into the smaller and smaller targets that we must hit so that we reach our lifetime goals. Finally, once we have our plan, we start working towards achieving it.

It starts with our lifetime goals, and then works through a series of lower level plans culminating in a daily to-do list. By setting up this structure of plans we can break even the biggest life goal down into a number of small tasks that we need to do each day to reach the lifetime goals.Goal setting is an important technique used by top-level athletes, business-people and achievers in all fields. It gives us long-term vision and short-term motivation. It focuses our acquisition of knowledge and helps is to organize our resources.

Following Through

Goals & Plans ~ Following through on your goals and plans

“What is not started today is never finished tomorrow.”
-- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”
~ Jimmy Dean

Set Personal Goals

It starts with our lifetime goals, and then works through a series of lower level plans culminating in a daily to-do list. By setting up this structure of plans we can break even the biggest life goal down into a number of small tasks that we need to do each day to reach the lifetime goals.

Following through on your plans and goals will take determination, we are easily swayed by things going on around us in our lives. These things can and will distract us away from our path if we let them. Stay on your path towards your desired goal, set your plans and move toward your dream. With a heart for where you are headed, you will get there under your own power.

“We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us.” ~ Martin Luther King
“I will permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him. ” ~ Booker T. Washington
“When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free.” ~ Catherine Ponder
“Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.” ~ Oscar Wilde
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Let us forgive each other - only then will we live in peace” ~ Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy
“Without forgiveness, there's no future” ~ Desmond Tutu
“Forgiveness is a funny thing. It warms the heart and cools the sting.” ~ William Arthur Ward
“Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?” ~ Abraham Lincoln

New Thought Spiritual Practices support us to transform our thinking and thereby transform our lives.

New Thought is neither Abrahamic, nor Vedic. New Thought is unique in that a person may come from any religious background and does not need to belong to any of the four Abrahamic religions or any of the Hindu (Vedic) religions. There are New Thought Taoists and New Thought Buddhists. What New Thought adherents have in common is a belief in Universal Spiritual Principles.

There are New Thought Buddhists, New Thought Taoists and New Thought Pagans who have would never call themselves Christian, nor claim any Abrahamic influence whatsoever. They accept that New Thought Abrahamics (Jews, Christians, Mohammedans, Mormons), and New Thought Vedics share the same Universal Principles of New Thought but would never characterize themselves as Abrahamic.

It is understood that New Thought is a unique and powerful spiritual path which can characterized as a religion having its own spiritual practices and beliefs. Some in New Thought prefer to claim they have no beliefs and choose to express their beliefs as "knowing."

It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. The adherents of each spiritual path are collectively responsible to the rest of humanity and all life to insure that the expression of their path is not abusive or violent nor violates the rights of other beings.

There are even New Thought Fundamentalists who believe that "nothing is real and everything is in your mind." These folks share many thought patterns and behaviors with other Fundamentalists around the globe. Such extreme beliefs are held by a fraction of New Thought adherents.

As one learns in the beliefs section, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good. It is not

This basic premise of New Thought, that the Divine is Good and Omnipresent is based upon universal spiritual principles as demonstrated and taught by historical figures such as Buddha, Danika, Lao Tzu, and Jesus the Christ. It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. New Thought Day was declared by James Edgerton on August 23rd, 1915
During research while expanding the free New Thought Library, one of the ministers came across an interesting quote from early New Thought Alliance President James A. Edgerton: "'The truth, once announced, has the power not only to renew but to extend itself. New Thought is universal in its ideals and therefore should be universal in its appeal. Under the guidance of the spirit, it should grow in good works until it embraces many lands and eventually the whole world.' ~ New Thought Day, August 23rd , 1915."
